ASK ME ANYTHING
DO I NEED A PERMIT TO ELOPE in colorado's national parks?
Yes — Rocky Mountain National Park requires a Special Use Permit for commercial photography and elopement sessions, which costs approximately $300 and must be applied for in advance. Maroon Bells (Aspen) requires a separate permit through the White River National Forest, with an application fee of around $200. Many popular trailheads also require timed entry reservations during peak season. I handle all permit research and guide every couple through the application process.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO ELOPE IN Colorado?
Summer (late June through August) is peak wildflower season, especially in the San Juans and around Crested Butte — the meadows are absolutely explosive with color. Fall (mid-September through mid-October) brings the golden aspens, which is arguably the most spectacular time of year in Colorado. Winter offers a snowy wonderland with far fewer crowds. Spring is beautiful but unpredictable — snow can fall at any time above 10,000 feet.

CAN WE legally self-solemnize in colorado?
Yes — Colorado is one of only a handful of states that allows self-solemnization, meaning you can legally marry without an officiant or witnesses. You simply obtain a marriage license from any county clerk's office, sign it yourselves, and return it within 35 days. This makes Colorado one of the most elopement-friendly states in the country and gives you complete freedom to have your ceremony wherever and however you want.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK?
I recommend booking at least 6–12 months in advance. Permitting applications can take time, depending on where you want to elope.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR OUR ELOPEMENT in colorado?
Colorado's landscapes shift dramatically with the seasons. In summer, the vivid greens and wildflower colors pair beautifully with warm neutrals, soft creams, and earthy tones. In fall, the golden aspens create a stunning backdrop for rich jewel tones — deep burgundy, forest green, and warm terracotta. In winter, white and cream against the snow is breathtaking. Layers are essential — mountain weather changes fast, and temperatures drop significantly above 10,000 feet. Comfortable hiking boots are a must for most locations.
